New Motto

This weekend my husband was feeling under the weather so we did a lot of resting. I came across a program in which the speaker was talking about her walk with God and her wish for each person to become so filled with Jesus that our daily lives would do nothing but show Him and His love to everyone we come into contact with. While this is a prayer I have prayed very often it doesn't always happen for me. I fall daily, hourly. But she also shared something that her father always said to her and it made me laugh and smile. I have committed it to memory and I hope this will become second nature to me .......

If you LOVE JESUS.....
NOTIFY YOUR FACE!!!!

What can cause weight gain and poor bone health?

Ok, so I am not, by any means an expert on health. I am learning. I have been a vegetarian all my life, but that does not mean I have been eating the healthiest. I am gaining new insights everyday and I feel it is important for me to share things that I learn about healthy eating. We all have to make choices daily about what we will put into our bodies and we can only make those choices based upon the information that we have, so I share this little video clip with you in the hope that it will help you too!

So What Is SOO Wrong With Soda???

I have never enjoyed the beverage myself. I hate the carbonation. It burns my throat (my kids call it fuzzy) and makes me burp a lot! I have never really enjoyed any of the flavors either.

But are there real reasons why soda isn't good for you? In fact there are and I have found two different websites that have some really good reasons why discontinuing soda drinking is good for your health. Lifetraininonline.com and Livestrong.com are the two websites.

But why did I start looking it up in the first place? Because my husband came home from work last night and told me about a co-worker who was giving up all caffeine. Why? Because he read an article about how it affects your eyesight! Well it was just an article and it was probably just a bunch of bunk right! Wrong! It was a story about Brian McCann catcher for the Atlanta Braves!!
But I don't want you to just take my word for it here is the article about Brian.

Caffeine is a diuretic. What does that mean? That means it dehydrates you! So if you drink a lot of water and then have a soda/pop, it was just counteracted!

Aspartame, what is that again, just a sweetener....right? Nope! It was actually discovered when a lab was experimenting on a new drug! NICE huh! Here is what Wiki Pedia has to say about it:

"Aspartame
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aspartame (APM; /ˈæspərtm/ or /əˈspɑrtm/) is an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener

used as a sugar substitute in some foods and beverages. In the European Union, it is

codified as E951. Aspartame is a methyl ester of the aspartic acid/phenylalanine dipeptide.

It was first sold under the brand name NutraSweet; since 2009 it also has been sold

under the brand name AminoSweet. It was first synthesized in 1965 and the patent expired in 1992."

Here is some information all about Aspartame. This is pretty disturbing to me and

I know my family will be avoiding anything that contains Aspartame like it has a plague!!!

You Reap What You Sow

"Good morning” said a woman as she walked up to the man sitting on ground.

The man slowly looked up.

This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was

new.. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life.

His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others

had done before.. "Leave me alone," he growled....

To his amazement, the woman continued standing.

She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you

hungry?" she asked.

"No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president.

Now go away."

The woman's smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under

his arm.

"What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone.

Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked..

"No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man

to his feet. Will you help me?"

The officer scratched his head. "That's old Jack. He's been a fixture around

here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?"

"See that cafeteria over there?" she asked. "I'm going to get him something to

eat and get him out of the cold for awhile."

"Are you crazy, lady?" the homeless man resisted. "I don't want to go in there!"

Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up. "Let me go,

officer. I didn't do anything."

" This is a good deal for you, Jack" the officer answered. "Don't blow it.."

Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack

into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle

of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch

bunch had not yet arrived...

The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. "What's going on

here, officer?" he asked. "What is all this, is this man in trouble?"

"This lady brought this man in here to be fed," the policeman answered.

"Not in here!" the manager replied angrily. "Having a person like that here is

bad for business.."

Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. "See, lady. I told you so. Now if you'll let

me go. I didn't want to come here in the first place."

The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled....... "Sir, are you

familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?"

"Of course I am," the manager answered impatiently. "They hold their weekly

meetings in one of my banquet rooms."

"And do you make a godly amount of money providing food at these weekly

meetings?"

"What business is that of yours?"

I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company."

"Oh."

The woman smiled again. "I thought that might make a difference." She glanced at

the cop who was busy stifling a giggle. "Would you like to join us in a cup of

coffee and a meal, officer?"

"No thanks, ma'am," the officer replied. "I'm on duty."

"Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?"

"Yes, maam. That would be very nice."

The cafeteria manager turned on his heel, "I'll get your coffee for you right

away, officer."

The officer watched him walk away. "You certainly put him in his place," he

said.

"That was not my intent. Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this."

She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him

intently.. "Jack, do you remember me?"

Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes. "I think so -- I mean you

do look familiar."

"I'm a little older perhaps," she said. "Maybe I've even filled out more than in

my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold

and hungry."

"Ma'am?" the officer said questioningly. He couldn't believe that such a

magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry.

"I was just out of college," the woman began. "I had come to the city looking

for a job, but I couldn't find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents

and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was

February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on

the off chance that I could get something to eat."

Jack lit up with a smile. "Now I remember," he said.. "I was behind the serving

counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said

that it was against company policy."

"I know," the woman continued. "Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich

that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to go over to a

corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble... Then,

when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I

knew then that everything would be all right."

"So you started your own business" said the old man.

"I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my

own business that, with the help of God, prospered." She opened her purse and

pulled out a business card.. "When you are finished here, I want you to pay a

visit to a Mr. Lyons...He's the personnel director of my company. I'll go talk

to him now and I'm certain he'll find something for you to do around the

office." She smiled. "I think he might even find the funds to give you a little

advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get

on your feet... If you ever need anything, my door is always opened to you."

There were tears in the old man's eyes. "How can I ever thank you?" he said.

"Don't thank me," the woman answered. "To God goes the glory. Thank God...... He

led me to you."

Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before

going their separate ways....

"Thank you for all your help, officer," she said.

"On the contrary, Ms. Eddy," he answered. "Thank you. I saw a miracle today,

something that I will never forget. And..And thank you for the coffee."

God closes doors no man can open & God opens doors no man can close..
Have a blessed day and remember to be a blessing...

2 Weeks 2 Days sick and counting.... You're Gonna What?

Remember I posted that my son had been sick...well.... he's still sick! He started with a sore throat on October 19th! He started to get better, but Monday the 31st he was really sick. He started throwing up! I can handle a cold because I can give fever reducer and cough medicine and tissues. But when your child is throwing up you feel so helpless! Especially when their fever reaches 103.4 and you can't give them the fever reducer because they will throw it back up. I was so worried a called the pharmacy about suppositories! EEEEEWWW! I know as a kid that was just about the worst word ever to me! Umm excuse me...you're gonna put What .... WHERE???? Oh no, no, No, NO YOU"RE NOT!

Thankfully the throwing up stopped so we didn't have to buy or use any! Wheeewww! The fever is hovering at 100 and there is till an ugly cough. But it is now manageable! But we are not going anywhere! Staying in the house pushing lots of fluids, resting and trying to watch educational stuff so we can still count some days for school. Hopefully soon we will be able to crawl out or our cozy cocoon and see the rest of the world.

VegeFish Fillet Anyone????

No, your eyes are not deceiving you! VegeFish is exactly what I wrote. We tried these Heritage VegeFish Fillets this summer and they have very quickly become a regular at our family's dinner table.
My husband was raised eating meat and has tried many different foods. He says this tastes the most like real fish of any meat substitute he has tried. They are my FAVORITE (and the kids love them)! Give them a try, my parents did and they love them too! IS Veggie Meat an OXYMORON? I don't think so!

While we are on the subject of cooking....

Wednesday is Pizza and Game or Movie Night for our family. Well last Wednesday, my son had been sick with a cold for several days and milk products are not good for you when you have a cold, we thought this was a good time to make....VEGAN PIZZA!

Our family is vegetarian but we do usually eat cheese and eggs. But we have been talking about going vegan because we have learned about something found in milk and it's products called Casein. We no longer want to give that to our children or eat it ourselves!

The pizza turned out very well and was quite tasty! We will most likely be having it again tonight!!!!

Homemade Bread .... Can I Get a YUM Anyone??

So this last Sunday I made bread...homemade bread for the first time! And it came out edible! My husband and kids LOVE it. It was easy enough that I could do it more than once a week...if... If I had one of these Bosch Universal Plus Mixer . It only costs $469.99! It made making the bread so much easier though.

We just got tired of buying bread and not really knowing what was in it! There should be less than ten ingredients in whole wheat bread! And I should be able to pronounce every one of them!

I have a friend that makes her own bread and her's is tr`es magnifique! Someday I hope mine will be as amazing as her's, but at least I didn't make a brick!

Why Can't I Be Funny???

Lord, why can't I be funny? Why can't I have the self confidence that so many other women have? What is special about me? I just don't see what purpose you have for me. But until I figure that out could you just...

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Trust in Footprints

I wanted to start blogging and I wanted it to be a regular thing. But life just seems to get in the way. And I don't seem to have as many exciting things to write about unlike a friend of mine. She is an incredible blogger. Hardly misses a day and always has something funny to write about. It makes my life seem so dull!

But I guess God has purposes for everyone. I just haven't found mine yet. So until then I will simply share things that I happen in my life whether they seem to be exciting or not.

In the most recent future we went camping with our local Pathfinder club. My husband and I have the blessed responsibility of being the leaders of the group. I wasn't looking forward to the trip and in fact froze on the trip. All except my heart!

On this trip I was shocked by the behavior of our kids in the group. They were amazingly well behaved! We had a lot to be proud of. There is a varied range of ages and personalities, but for the most part, they were excellent kids.

While on the camp out my son got very sick. I was very stressed about this. It was so hard to balance between my responsibilities and trying to make him comfortable. But he made it through like a trouper. We got home and I tried my best get him well, but here it is two weeks later and he actually got worse! His temperature soared to 103.4. He threw up 3 times....so it all makes a mother blame herself. Should I have taken him on the campout? Should I have left him home?

I can't change it but I can love him. I can do my best to make him feel as good as possible. I can pray for him and lay him at the feet of Jesus. I must TRUST Jesus to carry him (and me) through! I need to look for the one set of : Footprints in the Sand

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
